Rosenhof’s story began in the 18th century with the construction of the Old Irish Manor House, a testament to the area’s rich architectural heritage. Over the years, the property has carefully evolved, preserving its historical essence while embracing modern comforts. Rosenhof seamlessly blends the charm of yesteryear with contemporary amenities, offering guests a unique glimpse into Clanwilliam’s past.
One of the characteristics that makes Rosenhof stand out from the rest is the knowledge of the Cederberg which is shared with great enthusiasm by her owner and your host, Karen. Her passion for the Cederberg, for the unspoiled natural beauty with sandstone rock formations, waterfalls and crystal clear rock pools, the smells and scents of Fynbos and wild flowers, called her and her husband Coetzee back to this pristine natural beauty more than 20 years later – the circle was complete with their return with the purchase of Rosenhof, centrally located in Clanwilliam’s most historic street – with a great longing and to pursue their dreams, to return to this intoxicating domain – where they first found each other some many years back, between stone and rock, with the realization that they share the same passion for these untouched rock plains and the rugged landscapes the Cederberg has to offer, to share with everyone this jewel of the Western Cape, only 2 hour drive from Cape Town.
Their perseverance and the decision to take a new lease on life, is one success story that is an inspiration and testimony of their passion that they like to share – to live on the edge full of confidence and believe of what the future would bring.
Rosenhof is more than just a place to stay; her dreams built on warmth, passion and the will to share and serve, contradict that we truly care. Coetzee and Karen are dedicated to welcome guests to ensure an experience, to take away with them and to share with others with the same infectiousness that they radiate as hosts. Rosenhof is a year-round destination! During the summer months (November - March) the weather is warm and sunny, perfect for enjoying the outdoors. Winter (April - October) offers cooler temperatures and beautiful wildflower displays (depending on rainfall). Clanwilliam also boasts the annual Clanwilliam Wildflower Show in spring (September/October).
